Empowering Staff for Success:
Mindsets, Tools, and Strategies for a Positive School Culture
Audience: Whole Staff (including Leadership Team)
Overview
Is your staff ready for the transformation? During this session, leaders and teachers in your building will be empowered as the agents of change necessary to achieve a positive school culture. A Kickboard coach will first lead staff to explore mindsets critical for success. Staff will learn the software tools that will help them reinforce positive choices with students and be guided through a group norming process to ensure consistency in behavior capture. They will also learn strategies and gain resources for defining and explicitly teaching behaviors with children.

- Punitive mindsets or mixed beliefs about how to motivate students
- Widespread assumptions among adults that children should just know how to behave without being taught

Promoting Student Engagement in a Virtual Setting
Audience: Teachers
Overview
Research shows that it is imperative that students develop social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies, even in a blended or virtual environment. During these times, it is important to cultivate a sense of belonging, increase student engagement, promote connectedness and foster student engagement outside of the traditional classroom.
To support these initiatives, Kickboard has produced evidence-based professional development to help teachers with virtual online strategies and actionable resources to drive student engagement and cultivate a sense of belonging while in a remote learning environment or blended learning setting.
This on-demand course promotes a positive online learning environment that allows for rigorous instruction and parental involvement. The course includes specific, proven strategies used by teachers, technology tools that will promote student engagement and unique videos of students explaining their experiences and thoughts.

- Educators struggle to promote connectedness among students and family members in a virtual setting.
- Educators lack tools to engage students outside of the traditional classroom.

Equity Teacher Training
Audience: District / Campus
Overview
There are four distinct phases (Awareness, Examine, Acknowledge, Action) of anti-racism work that must be completed in order to result in a change of policies and practices. Each phase contains multiple modules that will cover a specific anti-racism topic. These modules include learning activities, videos/clips, articles, and readings followed by quizzes and reflections. To maximize learning, participants are encouraged to engage individually and collectively.
Challenges Addressed:
- Expand knowledge about systemic racism through understanding of history, data, policies, and practices
- Disparities in academic achievement
- Overidentification of children of color in special education
- Disproportionate punitive actions for students of color in schools
- Cultural competence/relevance
- Bias in education
Program Outcomes:
- Awareness: Learn the history of systemic racism in this country, develop a common understanding of key terms that will leverage the ability to act
- Examine: Interrogate internal belief systems and understand and acknowledge internal bias and how biases impact daily actions
- Acknowledge: Evaluate and assess the equity of current policies, practices and daily interactions
- Action: With current knowledge base, shift policies, practices and interactions

How to Use Kickboard Software
Audience: Full Staff
Overview
During this self-paced virtual course, leaders and teachers will be trained on using the Kickboard software to recognize and reinforce student behaviors. School staff will be introduced to the Kickboard platform with a walkthrough of how to use the software on the web and mobile app. Staff will also learn real-world best practices for how to use Kickboard to respond to behavior in real time while teaching. This course also covers how to access Kickboard Support resources for additional practice and guidance.
Challenges Addressed:
- Limited time for Kickboard training as a whole group or led by an in-house leader
- Lack of understanding of how to incorporate culture software into regular teacher practice
- Inconsistency of behavior expectations across classrooms
Virtual Package Includes:
- Asynchronous online course, self paced (approx. 1 hour)
- Gradebook access for an administrator to monitor participant course progress
- Guidance in using Kickboard to support school culture goals in the classroom
