Educational technology is a growing field. It is the facilitation of learning and improving performance through the creation, use and management of technology. Today’s educational landscape is working toward students developing 21st century skills, many of which require the use of technological resources. It makes sense that teachers and parents now engage in communication through technology, just as students engage in learning through technology.

Kickboard offers research-based software that give schools, teachers and parents the ability to create and manage positive school culture programs. Since it’s development, Kickboard has used its web platform to help teachers track student behavior, identify cultural trends and implement systems to improve student results.

Daily Student Reporting Tool for Communication

One of Kickboard’s staple programs is the behavior collection system. This is a daily student reporting tool where teachers record behaviors of students that either earn or take away dollars or points. Schools can be creative with the data they are tracking and reporting. Character reports allow schools to organize more specific information about the extent to which students are exhibiting desired character traits. For students with individual behavior plans, the portal can be used to identify how students are progressing with their intervention.

Kickboard has identified specific positive behaviors that schools can prioritize for student success. Schools can also track corrective behaviors that they hope to decrease. Over time, all behaviors can be analyzed to identify which positive or corrective habits students exhibit the most. Student progress can be tracked for classroom and school-specific incentives as well as to help leaders support teachers in classroom management and organization.

Teachers can print daily, weekly, or annual student reports for parents. Alternatively, parents and students can log in to Kickboard’s Family Portal and see student behavior in real time. Parents can access the app on their cell phones during their lunch break and even send the teacher a message to get more clarity on how their child is doing that day. Students can log in to the Kickboard website after school and see if they are on track to earn the weekly incentive.

Ed Tech Portals Improve Teacher-Parent Communications

Kickboard’s Family Portal helps improve communication and relationships because it allows communication to happen to and from the teacher and parent. It also keeps the student informed, since parents and students can log in separately. This is empowering for the student because it allows them the ability to track their progress and set goals to improve their performance.

Kickboard’s Family Portal allows all parties to stay engaged and updated about student progress. The portal is easy to access through a mobile app or website and parents can monitor student behavior progress in real time. Teachers and parents can message each other through the portal to ask questions and talk more specifically about the student, allowing for efficient and effective communication that includes both parties.

Here at Kickboard we have seen many schools improve parent-teacher relationships by using our family portal, PBIS mobile app, web platform, and professional development services to support their initiatives. Kickboard helps teachers to communicate with parents, track student behavior, identify cultural trends and implement systems to improve student results.
